Accident leaves 1 dead in Nebraska

Police say that a 31-year-old woman was killed after an accident that took place at about 4:22 a.m. on Jan 18. According to authorities, the 24-year-old driver of the Jeep lost control of the vehicle and hit a wooden utility pole while driving eastbound on Lake Street in Omaha. After hitting the pole, the vehicle rolled, hit a privacy fence and came to a stop on its roof.

Distraction alleged factor in Nebraska auto-pedestrian crash

A 55-year-old woman was severely injured in a pedestrian-car collision at about 6:30 p.m. in Omaha on Jan. 14. Police believe that a distracted driver caused the crash.

New technology could significantly decrease traffic accidents

Nebraska residents may find it interesting that the U.S. Department of Transportation's National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is moving forward in their efforts to enable vehicle-to-vehicle communication technologies in lighter cars. The technology would essentially make it possible for cars to communicate with each other in the hopes of cutting down on vehicle accidents. Drivers would be able to provide information to other drivers, such as upcoming lane changes or inform about car accidents on the highway that could help to prevent imminent collisions.

Is post-traumatic stress disorder possible after a car accident?

Nebraska residents who have been involved in a traffic accident may feel a number of emotions in the days following an accident. Overwhelming feelings of shock, disbelief and guilt are not uncommon, and it can be difficult to cope with these experiences while continuing with day-to-day activities. Typically, the emotions eventually dissipate; however, some individuals continue to suffer from these feelings over a long period.
