The risks associated with impaired driving

Motor vehicle accidents frequently happen on Nebraska roadways; many of these accidents involve an impaired driver. Due to the growing problem of alcohol or drug-related traffic fatalities and injuries, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has released information about how dangerous having a drink before driving might be. The organization has determined that almost 30 people die every day in the United States after being involved in a traffic accident with a driver who is impaired by alcohol. They believe that some safety steps could help to save lives and educate others about the risks.

If a person has been drinking or is with another individual who has been drinking, they are encouraged to hire a taxi to take them safely home. A designated driver should always be appointed for a group who is planning on drinking. Guests should also be reminded that a designated driver should be coordinated before they attend a party with alcohol, and individuals are encouraged to take the keys from others who might consider drinking and driving. Not ensuring that a driver is not attempting to drive while impaired could cause them or others to become injured.

Furthermore, the financial cost of alcohol-related motor vehicle accidents is over $59 billion annually. The problem raises additional concern because the number of children ages 14 and younger who died in impaired crashes in 2012 was 239. Over half of the children were actually riding in a car with the alcohol-impaired motorist.

The organization suggests that impaired driving accidents have become a major problem and cause death and injury in many cases. However, an attorney might be able to assist an individual who has been the victim of an alcohol or drug-related car accident seek compensation for damages in court.
