Police say that a 31-year-old woman was killed after an accident that took place at about 4:22 a.m. on Jan 18. According to authorities, the 24-year-old driver of the Jeep lost control of the vehicle and hit a wooden utility pole while driving eastbound on Lake Street in Omaha. After hitting the pole, the vehicle rolled, hit a privacy fence and came to a stop on its roof.
The woman was ejected from the Jeep and declared dead at the scene of the accident. A 36-year-old passenger in the car was taken to Nebraska Medicine for treatment of a hip injury. The driver of the vehicle was taken to a hospital for treatment of minor injuries after the crash.

Police said at the time of the report that an investigation into the accident was ongoing and that speed and alcohol were believed to have played a role in the accident.
An individual who is injured in a motor vehicle accident may be entitled to compensation. If someone is killed in an accident due to driver negligence, the family of the victim could file a wrongful death suit. Regardless of what type of legal action is taken, it may be beneficial to have the help of a personal injury attorney. In some cases, it may be possible to settle outside of court, which may lead to a faster resolution. This may allow the victim to have a sense of closure and allow the healing process to begin.
